Da Vinci Single Port Surgery

A true step-change and major development in thoracic surgery!

 

In September 2025 Dr Eckhaus performed the first thoracic operation using the new single port system in the southern hemisphere. The new single port system surgical robot allows for complex operations to be performed through a single small incision. 

 

This technique is appropriate for most people with anterior mediastinal masses (central chest lesions), thymomas, and those who require surgery for mythesenia gravis. Patients who have surgery using this technique often have less pain and are able to return to normal activities earlier, while still undergoing the same high-quality operation.
